Postal Loan Service
If you are not able to visit campus and based in the UK (including Bristol), we can send you up to 5 books that are not available electronically via our postal loans service. There is no charge for the service as the cost of posting items to you will be met by the Library.
We aim to dispatch available postal loans within one week of receiving your request. This may vary depending on demand and requests will be processed in chronological order of receipt.
If you request an item which is already on loan to another user, your wait time will likely be longer, as we will have to wait for the item to be returned before sending it out to you.
Request levels will be monitored; we may need to temporarily suspend taking requests at short notice if demand is high to prevent lengthy waits for fulfilment.
Postal services in some areas of the UK are being severely impacted by COVID-19, and users could experience delays in the receipt of items. We recommend contacting your Subject Librarian to explore electronic resource options before submitting your request.
Click and Collect Service Withdrawn
Our Click and Collect Service has now been retired. From Monday 19 April all of our libraries will be open for self-selection and self-issue of books from the shelves.
At the Physics, Queen's and Wills Memorial libraries, where the shelves are too close to study seats to maintain social distancing, you will be able to browse and borrow stock between 9-10am, Monday-Friday. Outside this hour, items can be reserved via Library Search. These will be picked for you by Library staff and you will be notified when your order is ready for collection.
If you urgently require an item from a closed library between 12-18 April, please send this request to us via email at email@example.com.
This is your UoB username that you would use for Single Sign-On. It does not have to appear in the same format as the example above for it to be accepted.
